Where will Buddy go?

Do you trust God with the big and small details of your life? Do you pray and ask him to direct you on what decisions to make?

Leaving Leewood

Alayna was ready for high school and Katie was heading into middle school. We were leaving the school all 3 of my kids had attended, Alayna for the past 8 years. We were leaving a very close knit family. There were so many decisions, magnet auditions and applications. We were accepted and waitlisted at some schools, at the last minute Alayna was miraculously accepted into her school because they “accidentally” sent her an email moving her off the waitlist. We decided where Katie would go to middle school for a theater magnet...so now we were left with one question...where is Buddy going to go?

It was too late to do any school tours, I really didn’t know much about the school next to Katie’s but it was convenient and had a magnet program in 3rd grade. Then God sent me an angel, Sherrie, to calm my nerves and show me where the right place was for Jonathan. She was the costume designer at the school and highly recommended it and would put a good word in for Jonathan with the drama teacher.

Sherrie and I had met 5 years earlier, December 2013. I was selling Origami Owl jewelry and lockets and she found me online. We have kept in touch over the years, she is a costume designer and with the kids being in acting, we followed each other’s journey.

My website name with Origami Owl was Celebrate and Inspire. A company that focuses on telling people’s stories and has a focus on helping others. (The vision and purpose for the name is getting more and more clear.)

So back to Buddy’s school, it was May 18th, 2018, we were going to see the end of year show, Sherrie had gotten us free tickets because she was wanting to show me what an amazing drama program the school had. And help me to see that this was the right decision.

That night in the cast there was a little girl, Gabi, that was going to the same school as Katie the next year, according to the program flyer. Unbeknownst to anyone, Katie wondered all summer if she would be in her class and was very excited when she turned out to be in all her classes! They have been best friends ever since. Walking together through one of the most difficult seasons of Katie’s life, being there to laugh, cry, offer rides to and from school, and so many other moments in the last year and a half.

Katie walked into my room a few days ago and told me, “Gabi and I are going to do a Bible reading plan together”. Nothing is sweeter to my ears, not only reading the Bible yourself but making it the foundation of your friendship. And they are planning some exciting things with their other best friend, which you will hear about very soon.

So long story short, we thought we were going to that show for Jonathan and for my peace of mind for that season but God’s plan was much bigger and had started several years before. And He had several years ahead already planned, knowing exactly what we would need in this season.

No matter the circumstance, His ways are definitely greater than our ways. When you think about it, it gives a much deeper meaning to “not my will, but Your will be done”. Luke 22:42

Will you pray to Him today and ask for His guidance? He wants to direct your steps and walk through every season with you. ❤️
